Do's and Don'ts of Christmas Photos
These are suggestions for creating photographs that are timeless and elegant. Following these suggestions is not a requirement by any means. Just helpful tips!
Do
- Coordinate colors and pill in a solid dress or top from another print
- Have siblings in completely different outfits
- Look for fun elements like bows, headbands, and layers
- Mix a print or two with solid colors (usually one smaller print and one larger print will work well together). Pull subtle colors from the prints to pick your solid color outfits
- Coordinate Christmas colors without matching identically
- Carry out the same aesthetic with all outfits (vintage, dressy, casual)
- Incorporate neutrals
- Wear coordinated plaid looks but not identical plaid print
- Consider adding texture and layers
Don't
- Don't have mom (or the preferred parent) + infant/baby wearing the exact same solid color as you will likely be the one holding the baby
- Don't have all the same gender in the same outfit
- Don't have everyone in the same color and material
- Don't make mom and dad match
- Don't make siblings match exactly
- Don't accessorize exactly the same for each family member
- Don't wear clothes with giant logos
- Don't wear all red. Santa is wearing red and wearing a different color will make you pop
